New council to lead the way

The newly elected Mayor of the Thulamela Local Municipality in Thohoyandou, Avhashoni Tshifhango, said corruption in his municipality will be a thing of the past.

LIMPOPO – He said the days of hiring friends without proper qualifications and nepotism have come to an end and that service delivery will be a priority for the municipality.

He made this statement during the inauguration ceremony as new mayor together with other councillors at Thohoyandou Indoor Sports Centre last Friday.

Tshifhango urged communities in Thulamela to join him and his councillors to continue with their goal of their 2030 vision of making Thohoyandou obtain city status.

Thohoyandou Senior Magistrate, Luckson Ramavhale, inaugurated 81 councillors who pledged to serve the community to the best of their ability.

Tshifhango thanked the outgoing mayor, Grace Mahosi, and her team for the good work they have done and promised to pick up where they left off in order to fast track service delivery. He urged the youth in the community to work together with the council to build a better municipality by pursuing their goals and becoming entrepreneurs and successful business people.

The EFF leader in Thulamela, Tshililo Netshisaulu, promised the party will work closely with the newly inaugurated councillors in the municipality to help build the community.

“We were elected to be the eyes of the communities and we promise we will do all in our power to help the communities get proper service delivery. We believe service delivery to our communities must be a top priority for all,” Netshisaulu said.
