It was business as usual at the Polokwane Civic Centre on Monday morning after the building had to be evacuated last Friday following an alleged bomb threat.
Acting Marketing and Communications Manager Matshidiso Mothapo confirmed on Tuesday that business resumed normally on Monday.
The Civic Centre had to be evacuated due to an alleged bomb threat received early last Friday.
Employees responded to the warning, evacuated the building and gathered at the corner of Market and Bodenstein streets while emergency and fire brigade personnel and Police officials searched the premises. Streets in the area were also cordoned off to traffic and pedestrians. Management decided to send all employees home and close the building in order for Police to execute a thorough investigation.
An anonymous caller had reportedly informed about a bomb in the building.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Ronel Otto later indicated that the building had been searched by members of the bomb squad and Dog Unit and declared safe.
