Tip-off leads to arrest, recovery of stolen items in city

A 38-year-old Zimbabwean national was arrested during an intelligence-led operation by SAPS for possession of suspected stolen property.

POLOKWANE – His arrest follows information received that stolen goods were being transported to Zimbabwe from Westenburg every week said provincial police spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

As a result, four plasma tv’s  to the value of R26 500 were recovered. The suspect, who was also found to be in the country illegally, will be investigated by Home Affairs and will appear before the Polokwane Magistrate Court soon on charges of possession of suspected stolen properties and contravention of the Immigration Act.

The suspect may be linked to more cases with more arrests expected and police investigations are still continuing. Members of the community have once more been commended for this valuable information and are still encouraged to bring more in the name of partnering with Police in the fight against crime he concluded.
