The Police have declared the Polokwane Civic Centre safe after an alleged bomb threat earlier today (Thursday).

Provincial Police Spokesperson Ronel Otto confirmed that Police have finished their investigation and scouting of the building and that it was declared safe.

The centre was evacuated and employees sent home due to an alleged bomb threat earlier.

Employees gathered on the corner of Market and Bodenstein streets while emergency personnel, fire brigade and Police officials were searching the building. Streets in the area were also cordoned off to traffic and pedestrians.

Acting Municipal Marketing and Communications Manager Matshidiso Mothapo confirmed the threat and said all employees were released for the day and business is expected to resume on Monday.
