According to provincial spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto: “The building was searched thoroughly. Nothing was found and the building has been declared safe.”

Municipal Spokesperson, Matshidiso Mothapo has confirmed that there is a bomb threat and that the employees were evacuated about 2 hours ago.

“For the safety of residents and employees we decided to close the building and all employees have been asked to go home. The building will be closed for the rest of the day.”

“This is not a part of a drill. Police officials are still sweeping the area confirms SAPS Warrant Officer Lesiba Ramoshaba.

Police investigations are ongoing. No further information available.

POLOKWANE – The roads in and around the Civic Centre on the corner of Landdros Maré and Bodenstein Streets have been blocked off due to a bomb threat in the area.

Police and Review journalists on the scene and waiting for the bomb squad to arrive.
