Eagle’s Nest outreach group tour Zambia

POLOKWANE – The outreach group of Eagle’s Nest Christian School continued their good work when they travelled to Zambia during the recent school holiday.
The group, consisting of 18 learners and seven teachers took on the 5 400 km journey to Zambia from 26 June to 13 July where they visited the Koti ni Eden, and Kalungu training centres.
These two training centres are Foundation for Christian centred Education (FCE) outposts.
According to Eagle’s Nest Principal, Mac van den Berg, the journey was quite an adventure, especially for the learners. The visit to Zambia offered them the opportunity to experience new cultures as well as the breathtaking beauty of the Victoria Falls on the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia.
“During their journey through Zambia, they had the opportunity to experience nature as they often put up tents at camping grounds and spent many nights under the starts. Everyone ‘unplugged’ from modern day items such as TV and their cell phones, giving them the opportunity to enjoy nature to the fullest,” said Van den Berg.
Among the outreach programmes at the FCE centres, the learners participated in garden workshop programmes, they took part in a fun and challenging obstacle course and did outreach programmes at two pre-primary schools and one high school.
In 2017, the school will embark on yet another outreach programme to Zambia among the numerous other outreach programmes the school is involved in, both at home and abroad.
