Body part suspects in court tomorrow

The duo has been in custody since they were arrested at a taxi rank in Polokwane on 10 July

POLOKWANE – Edward Raatji (50) and Stanley Mohloke (33) who face the charges of murder and possession of human body parts will appear before Mokerong Magistrate Court tomorrow (Thursday) for a bail application.

The duo has been in custody since they were arrested at a taxi rank in Polokwane after the police followed up on a lead about people selling human body parts near the taxi rank in Market Street.

The police stopped and searched the suspects’ vehicle and found the female victim’s head wrapped in newspaper. The two suspects were alter linked to the murder of a woman whose burned headless body was found under a bridge in Mapela on 11 July.

The two suspects previously appeared before Mokerong and Polokwane Magistrate’s Court.

On 17 July members from the Mapela community set alight two houses that belong to the suspects’ parents. According to Mahwelereng police spokesperson, Const Sello Leso a case of arson was opened  but no arrests have been made as yet. “We are still investigating the matter and perpetrators will be brought to book,” explained Leso.

Mohloke was previously acquitted on a rape charge in Mokerong Magistrates Court on Friday, 8 July after a woman claimed that he raped her.
