Women of the province who excelled in various disciplines were recognised at the prestigious 2016 Regional Business Achievers Awards function of the Businesswomen’s Association of South Africa (Bwasa) Limpopo at Meropa Casino and Entertainment World last Wednesday evening.
The key note address was delivered by Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation and awards were made in five categories. Other dignitaries in attendance were Transport, Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Mapula Phokwana-Mokaba, Polokwane Executive Mayor Thembi Nkadimeng, Health MEC Phophi Ramathuba, Social Development MEC Joyce Mashamba, Public Service Commissioner George Mashamba and Local Goverment, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs MEC Makoma Makhurupetje.
Rachel Ndlomo was the winner in the Social Entrepreneurs Category, with Mavis Mathabatha the runner-up and Sewela Mokwena in third place. Phuti Ragophala won the Government category followed by Nkwadi Kgwatalala and Nchabeng Tsebe. Lorna Maphuthuma won the Professional Category, Mandu Selepe was second and Reinette Mary Rosey third. The Entrepreneurs Category was won by Granny Matsaung. Judith Barnard took the second place and Patricia Dlamini was third. In the Emerging Entrepreneurs Category Annikie Malukuta took the award with Lindy Mamabolo and Rebecca Lentsoane the runners-up. Martha Manamela received the Honorary Award for her participation in social investment programmes.
An all-female trio of local talent comprising talented singer Rosina Machete from Siloe School for the Blind, poet Lethabo Shirelele from Waterval High School and Afro-jazz singer Ntsikwane Raphesu entertained guests and ensured they would never forget the event.
