CEPPWAWU strike: motorists advised to fill up

According to the AA, the strike will affect all refineries and depots of petroleum companies

POLOKWANE – The Automobile Association of South Africa (AA) has advised motorists to fill up their tanks as a Chemical, Energy, Paper, Printing, Wood and Allied Workers’ Union (CEPPWAWU) strike started today (Thursday).

CEPPWAWU members demand a 9% salary increase, as well as better job security from the National Petroleum Employers Association.

According to the AA, the strike will affect all refineries and depots of petroleum companies.

The strike does not include petrol pump attendants, but will impact motorists once petrol starts to run out, says the AA.

A local fuel depot and distributor say business is it is business as usual, and have not been affected by the strike.

They have also advised motorists to fill up their tanks as it is uncertain how long the strike might last.
