LIMPOPO – One of the two men, who were arrested for the possession of human body parts and linked to the murder of a woman whose burned headless body was found under a bridge in Mapela, parent’s house was set alight today (Sunday).
Mahwelereng police spokesperson, Constable Sello Leso reported:”Edward Mapayi Raatji (50) parents house in Mapela Village outside of Mokopane was burned today.”
Investigations are ongoing.
Matsobane Stanley Mohlake (35) and Raatji (50) was arrested on Sunday, 10 July after the police followed up on a lead about people selling human body parts near the taxi rank in Market Street.
The police stopped and searched the suspects’ vehicle and found the female victim’s head wrapped in newspaper.
They appeared in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday and were remanded into custody until their next court appearance on Tuesday, 19 July.
On Monday the police forensic team could not confirm whether the burned headless body was linked to the woman’s head found wrapped in newspaper, but further investigations by the police confirmed that the body parts were indeed linked. The men were charged with murder and appeared in the Mokerong Magistrate’s Court today (Friday).
They remain in police custody and the case was postponed to Wednesday, 20 July.
