Political parties weigh in on Molemole election matters

Senwamadi says the municipality can be salvaged from its challenges only if it is led by "God-fearing councillors".

LIMPOPO – With political parties now in election overdrive ahead of the local government elections, the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) in the Molemole Local Municipality is of the view that the 10 Biblical Commandments “will save the people from dire poverty”.

The party’s Councillor Candidate, Bishop Senwamadi says the people of Molemole live in dire poverty “as God is punishing them like He did the Israelites in biblical times”.

Senwamadi says the municipality can be salvaged from its challenges only if it is led by “God-fearing councillors”.

“When you look at the problems our municipality is facing, one is tempted to think that it is God’s way of punishing us. It is for this reason that the ACDP, wants to introduce a municipality which will be governed by God-fearing people.”

The DA intends to contest the upcoming elections with the mandate of bringing about drastic changes.

Party representative, Calvin Matjee says: “everywhere we go, we are preaching the gospel of change.

“In Molemole, the starting point will be growing the economy by creating jobs for locals, targeting the youth with requisite skills without being nepotistic. Regarding service delivery, Molemole is one of the municipalities confronted with water scarcity. From 2006, we have prioritised the idea of recycling water from Nandoni Dam.”

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) say should they be voted into power, they will do away with tender systems.

The EFF’s George Raphela says: “it is through tenders that corruption flourishes. It is a pity that these tenders do not bring any development to communities. Tenders have proved to be legislated corruption that leaves residents high and dry. Under EFF leadership, we will introduce a municipality which will employ people to build houses and construct roads and other projects”.

Both the DA and the EFF agree that in the face of water scarcity, the need to drill boreholes is imperative.

Moses Maila of Cope says: “we need to save South Africa from corrupt elements. We know them; they are in the ruling party”.

Molemole Mayor, Pauline Makgato told Capricorn Voice: “the ANC is the only party that understands the needs of the people. We have been on course in upgrading road infrastructure in Molemole.

“We have already opened clinics and built crèches and schools to ensure that our people receive primary healthcare and education. As we head to the elections, we want to promise the electorate that we will continue where we left off”.
