No mayoral candidate for new Vuwani muni

This comes after the ANC has still not announced its mayoral candidate for the newly formed municipality

LIMPOPO – Angry residents in the Vuwani and Malamulele areas, now popularly referred to as LIM345, say they can’t vote because the “democratic government is dictating to the people”.

This comes after theĀ ANC has still not announced its mayoral candidate for the newly formed municipality.

In the Vyeboom area, political parties can’t campaign due to an angry community who keeps threatening to boycott the election.

Police vehicles are still patrolling the area day and night.

ANC Limpopo Spokesperson, Aluwani Netsianda, said the ANC would announce the remaining mayoral candidates in due course.

DA Limpopo Leader, Jacques Smalle, said what happened in Tshwane would repeat itself in Limpopo due to factions in the ruling party, as the ANC doesn’t consider the candidates of the people’s choice.

“Even the blind can see that the ANC doesn’t have space for the current Mayor of Makhado, David Mutavhatsindi. We are concerned that the Vhembe District Municipality is responsible for coordinating the establishment of the municipality. The Vhembe municipality received an adverse audit opinion with findings from the AG for the last period under review and it is highly unlikely that the establishment of LIM 345 will be executed in a financially sound manner within the set time frames,” he said.
