Armed robbery suspects nabbed

Two suspects linked to a syndicate, who have been terrorising motorists long the N1 road were arrested during a special operation led by Modimolle Police units, K9 Unit and Crime Intelligence on Tuesday.

LIMPOPO – The arrests come after two separate armed robberies where  the victims allegedly stopped along the road to give the suspects a lift says provincial police spokesperson, Col Montashe Ngoepe.

“In both incidents the victims were robbed of cash, cellphones luggage and clothing at gun point.”

During the arrest one illegal firearm and suspected stolen cash was recovered.

The suspects will appear before the Modimolle Magistrate’s Court today (Wednesday).

In another incident 8 members also linked to a syndicate were terrorising communities in and around, Mokopane, Mahwelereng and the N1. They were arrested on Monday.

1 member appeared before the Mokerong Magistrate’s Court yesterday (Tuesday) and was released on R1000 bail. He is set to reappear on 28 August said Mahwelereng police spokesperson, Constable Sello Lesso.

The other 7 suspects were acquitted from this case and transferred to other police stations to face separate charges he added.
