POLOKWANE – 46-year-old Jonas Kgobo Moshabi was sentenced to 22 life terms in the Polokwane High Court on Friday, for the rape of 32 woman in the Moletjie area between 2005 and 2012 said provincial police spokesperson Col Ronel Otto.

“He used to overpower his victims, most of them elderly, while they were working in the mielie fields or while they were out collecting wood. He also broke into the houses of 10 of his victims.”

In most cases he had an unlicensed fire arm in his possession that he used to threaten the women with as well as robbing them of their possessions.

In one case a woman was shot and killed in her home added Otto.

The suspect was arrested at Moletji during 2013 and was kept in custody since then.

Lt Genl Ledwaba congratulated the investigation team of the Family Violence and Child Protection Services for the sterling word they did in putting this monster behind bars for the rest of his life.
