Help create jobs for young people

Young people in Limpopo have been encouraged to take advantage of the current economic conditions, no matter how challenging the objective may seem

POLOKWANE – The Progressive Professionals Forum (PPF) in the province has urged young people who participate in different sectors of the economy to make significant contributions toward fighting societal challenges such as unemployment.

During a recent PPF Summit, President of the PPF, Mzwanele Manye, motivated young professionals to identify projects that will help boost their communities.

“We want young professionals who are clear about their goals. We are here to do what we can to ensure you grow from being student chapters to being young professionals and becoming main contributors to economy,” Mzwanele said.

The PPF is represented in most provinces, with branches and chapters at prominent universities.

The SABC was also present at the PPF Summit.

The state broadcaster continues to play a vital role in producing a high percentage of the country’s young professionals.

The recent shift by the SABC to air 90% of locally produced content has been well received by the entertainment industry.

SABC Limpopo Provincial General Manager, Tshamaano Makuya, said they plan to revitalise the entertainment sector in the province.

Their aim for Limpopo is to produce content for popular shows such as Muvhango and Skeem Saam locally.

“The SABC wants content submitted from creatives in the province. We plan to assist content producers to up their skills in the province so we can support and have Skeem Saam and Muvhango produced in the province,” Tshamaano stated.

This will provide local producers, musicians and other artists in the creative industry with a wider audience and assist them in generating an income from doing something they are passionate about.
