Bogus cardiologist was ill-disciplined – Father
The father of Maria Lebo Mokgobu (19), the teenager who was recently arrested for masquerading as a cardiologist, said his daughter "was loose and ill-disciplined"
POLOKWANE – Speaking in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, Reverent Lesiba Frans Mokgobu of the New Bethlehem Apostolic Church in Kagiso, Krugersdorp, said he last saw his daughter three months ago, and that his daughter vanished in thin air and later thought she was staying in Limpopo with her uncle.
“I am now prepared to put her under control and make sure she is available for trial if granted bail,” he said.
During the court proceedings, the state, led by State Prosecutor, Andisa Mudau conceded that the residential address provided by Lebo left much to be desired.
The state said another woman lived at the same address Lebo claimed to live at, and that according to evidence brought to court, the woman, Anna Lebopa claimed she was the legitimate owner of the homestead.
“The evidence also provides that Lebopa does not know the accused and had never met or seen her before,” said Mudau.
Mudau said Lebo was a risk client as she was not married, schooling, was unemployed and had no children. “She is free and she may not suffer any prejudice if kept in custody” said Mudau.
Lebo’s legal counsel, led by attorney, Hlekani Mitileni told the court her parents spoke under oath to watch her if granted bail.
“She has no relatives outside those we know and no friends. She also does not have documents to visit outside the country. We will make sure that she stays put and does not hurt even a fly,’ promised the lawyers. The lawyer further said Lebo was a first time offender and that she was young and needed to be shaped.
She is remanded in custody, and the case was postponed to 6 July for verification of the applicant’s residential address.
