No fuel shortage in city despite rumors

Rumors are doing the rounds on social media of a possible fuel shortage in the city due to a strike by members of the Chemical Energy Paper Printing Wood and Allied Workers Union (CEPPWAWU).

POLOKWANE – According to a message circulating on WhatsApp everyone is warned to fill up their tanks in preparation of fuel shortage towards the end of the week. “It has been confirmed that a fuel delivery strike which started on 27 June has been kept quiet in order to prevent overcrowding at the petrol stations,” reads the message.

However, Johan Potgieter of Sasol Bendor and Frik du Preez of Mokone’s Shell Garage, said they were currently not experiencing any fuel shortages or challenges with the delivery thereof.
