Geldenhuys assault: case postponed to August

The three men charged with the assault of 35-year-old Paul Geldenhuys reappeared before the Tzaneen Magistrate's Court today (Tuesday).

POLOKWANE – The three men charged with the assault of the late Paul Geldenhuys (35) reappeared before the Haenertsburg Periodical Court today (Tuesday).

Geldenhuys suffered injuries to his face, neck and right side of the body during the assault at The Iron Crown Pub & Bistro in Haenertsburg on 4 March. He died on 22 March.

The officer in the case WO Khoza, earlier confirmed that two of the men who were previously arrested on 8 March were released on R3000 bail each after their first court appearance in the Tzaneen Magistrate’s Court. The third accused who handed himself over to the police at a later stage was granted bail of the same amount.

The names of the accused cannot be released as they have not pleaded.

The case has been postponed to 23 August for further investigation.
