Overgrown grass along Soetdorings road to get burned

Every year, property owners who are part of Community Policing Forums (CPF) are often called out to fires on farms and smallholdings

POLOKWANE – Most of these fires start as a result of either natural processes, carelessness or arson, and in most cases, the fires spread faster due to overgrown grass and bushes.

For this reason, the Doornbult CPF has decided to burn the long and overgrown grass along the Soetdorings road in an attempt to prevent any fires from getting out of control.

According to the CPF, there had been several calls for the grass to be cut, but the plea fell on deaf ears.

Doornbult  CPF spokesperson, Mariaan Coetzee, says the fire along the Soetdoring road will be done in a controlled environment, with the fire brigade on standby where needed.

Coetzee says depending on the wind, the burning of the bushes will start on Sunday, 3 July.
