‘Those with a positive mind have the power to change the world’
The name Claude White Cloud is reminiscent of Native American Indian folklore, but in this case, he is the real thing. White Cloud shares his story with Review:
POLOKWANE – He was born and raised in Gauteng and enjoys to share his story with anyone he meets.
“When people look at me they say that I am an Indian and they are correct. Five generations ago one of my great great-grandfathers took an Indian wife and was forced to come to South Africa during the French Revolution. My bloodline then went through several other mixes and kicked me out with the looks and beliefs and even the talent of a Native American. I am a full-blooded Red Indian and I am proud of it,” White Cloud explains.
White Cloud says that as a child he never wanted to play the cowboy and he grew up practicing many rituals and traits of the old Indian people. “From a very young age I was able to make clothing and shoes, I taught myself how to make them and I still make my own clothes today.”
He says pollution tears at his soul. “I believe that man will pay for everything he does to the world. His biggest heritage is nature but only a few people realise this and it will be one of the things that man will regret later on,” he laments.
He says: “Ignorance breeds fear which breeds negativity. I believe in the power of a positive mind. People with a positive mind can control the world around them and make sure their own destiny is one filled with success.
“No matter who you are, you will make mistakes, but it is up to those people who are balanced to set things right and give people the opportunity to correct their mistakes. Any man can act in ignorance in a second and do something in anger, the only way to put that balance right is to give that person the opportunity to fix his mistake or make up for his mistake. That is how a positive mind works and a positive mind has the power to change the world,” he says.
White Cloud is currently working on his first CD and believes that his Native American influence will help him in bringing something unique to the market and taking it by storm.
He travels the country acting at festivals and has been involved in many charity events.
His dream is to become a one-man travelling show. White Cloud covers a variety of well-known songs; he can sing in more than 70 different voices of well-known artists like Tina Turner, Neil Diamond and even Michael Bolton.
His message to aspiring artists is that they should know it is a difficult life and that the most important thing is to build a reputation because this leads to bookings and people getting to know you.
