No arrests yet after man (44) shot on Palmietfontein plots

A 44-year-old man has been shot and wounded during an attempted house robbery on a smallholding outside Polokwane on Wednesday morning.

POLOKWANE – Athlenda Mathe, Media Liaison Officer for Netcare 911 told Review that they were called to the scene of a house robbery and shooting at around 05:40.

Netcare911 paramedics arrived on the scene to find a 44 year-old man who had been shot through the hand. We stabilised the wounded man on the scene before transporting him to a nearby hospital for further medical care.”

“The man told us he and his family found four suspects in their family home and during the attack that ensued, shots were fired and he was shot in the hand,” Mathe explained.

Polokwane police Spokesperson WO Lesiba Ramoshaba said the police arrived on the scene and was told that the family were on their way to work when they surprised four suspects in their home. Two of the suspects were armed. He could not confirm at the time if there had been any injuries or shots fired. He did however confirm that the police were investigating a case of house robbery and that no arrests have been made yet. “We call on people with information on this incident to come forward in order for the police to catch the criminals,” Ramoshaba said.

The cause of the incident will remain part of a  police investigation.
