Monday’s recorded temperature the coldest in 48 years

If you added an extra layer of clothing and drank more warm drinks than usual on Monday it was understandable... Monday 13 June was the coldest day recorded in Polokwane since 1968.

POLOKWANE – If you put on an extra layer of clothing and drank more warm drinks than usual on Monday because of the cold weather, that was because Monday was the coldest day recorded in Polokwane.

According to records extracted  by the South African Weather Service, the lowest maximum temperature was recorded at 8.3 degrees Celsius. This temperature surpassed a 48 year record with the last lowest maximum recorded being 9.1 degrees Celsius on 3 June 1968.

According to the weather service, the rest of the week will remain mild with temperatures in the high teens and lower twenties with temperatures expected to increase in next week.
