Initiation school season: parents urged to be vigilant

With the initiation school season imminent, the Limpopo police have issued a warning against those who forcefully take children to these schools

LIMPOPO – “No child must be taken to this school forcefully and without the authority of the parents. It will be a crime of kidnapping,” says provincial head of the police media centre, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

“All parents are advised to take full responsibility for their children’s safety during this period. Any incident of kidnapping and assault emanating from this schools must be reported to the local police station immediately.”

Ngoepe says the police in conjunction with other stakeholders such as traditional leaders and the department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs will work tirelessly to prevent any criminal activity.

“Community leaders and structures are also encouraged to partner with the police to ensure a crime-free season. The owners of these schools are also encouraged to cooperate with the police in all aspects. The police will leave no stone unturned in dealing with  any criminal activity.”
