Cop shot, killed while on duty

The Provincial Police Commissioner Lt Genl Nneke Ledwaba urges members of the community who might have any information to come forward to assist the police with their investigation.

LIMPOPO – A 52-year-old  from the Ritavi area was shot and killed on Saturday morning, while attempting to stop a burglary in progress.

W/O Jan Homu of Ritavi was shot once in the hip while he and his collegue were searching for the suspects said provincial police spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto.

“He died  on the scene while a paramedic was working on him,” explained Otto.

His colleague was unharmed.

The suspects managed to flee with two Plasma TV ‘s and clothing.

Otto said a  task team has been established to search for those involved.

The Provincial Police Commissioner  Lt Genl Nneke Ledwaba expressed his deepest sympathies to the family of the slain member.

He vows that the police will make use of all the resources available to ensure that the suspects are arrested as soon as possible and urged members of the community who might have any information to come forward to assist the police with their investigation.
