When 22-year-old Rosette Magapa from Makgane village in Sekhukhune district began competing in beauty pageants two years ago the furthest thing from her mind was that she would be the face of a famous brand and a finalist in the Miss United Continents South Africa 2016 pageant.
Magapa, once she had completed Grade 12 at Jane Furse Comprehensive School she enrolled for a BSc in Environmental and Water Sciences at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) where she graduated last year.
Currently living in Polokwane she entered the Miss Commonwealth SA pageant in 2014 and made it as a finalist. “I made it to the top five and that has been a big highlight as it was my first experience. In 2015 I became involved with Miss Earth SA where I was one of the semi finalists. It was another amazing journey. I’m looking forward to achieving in and winning pageants. As I am a model I am now the face of a famous beauty product for 2016. It’s an amazing journey so far. I even have billboard and magazine spreads”
She also runs a charity campaign that she founded in 2014. In July she will be celebrating 3 years of changing and touching lives. She loves giving back to the community as it fulfils her live.
Her future plans include becoming an environmental lawyer and a meteorologist.
Her goal for now is to be the first ever ambassador of Miss United Continents South Africa 2016, as South Africa is taking part in this competition for the first time. The pageant will take place in Pretoria on Saturday. Magapa said it would be a dream come true to represent South Africa internationally.
“I enjoy singing and listening to music which lifts up and energises ones mood as well as meeting new people and sharing our experiences and ideas about life. I enjoy doing aerobics and also love travelling. I have travelled most parts of SA. I have also been to Swaziland, Lesotho, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana. I would love to visit Namibia one day and more other international countries.
Her motto in life is that nothing is impossible. She further explained that through life experiences this motto proved her right as long as you put your mind and dedication to it. “The sky is the limit. It`s never too late to try something new.”
