Osies flaunt entrepreneurial skills

The Gr 5 and Gr 6 learners of Oosskool were given the opportunity to put their entrepreneurial skills to the test at the school's entrepreneur day last Friday.

POLOKWANE – According to Amie Smit, economic and management sciences (EMS) teacher at the school, the day is aimed at teaching learners entrepreneurial skills. “This is for the learners’ benefit and all the profit is theirs to keep. We want learners to learn entrepreneurship skills at a young age so that they know if it is something they want to do when they matriculate,” he says.

Smit says they give learners with the best entrepreneurial skills a cash prize to boost their morale. “The prize is not important. All we want is for learners to polish their skills. This is a platform for them to put what they learn in class into practice and we are happy with the outcome,” says Smit.

Smit says they host this event every second term of the year and the entrepreneur day caters for Gr 5, 6 and 7 learners.

He says the learners learned a lot on the day and the skills acquired will help them in the future.
