New shopping and entertainment centre coming soon

The construction of a new shopping complex and an entertainment centre will soon start at Mamphakgathi village outside Modjadjiskloof

LIMPOPO – According to the operations director, Tebogo Maake, the development, which will be done by Batho Panda Trading and Mining, will include a shopping complex, hotels, swimming pools, entertainment centre and a conference centre with accommodation.

Maake said the 106 hectares of land on which the business will be developed, was bought by Batho Panda Trading and Mining from a private owner, Leslie le Roux, a farmer who lived in the area recently.

He said a plan to develop a shopping complex in the area started in 2009 and the rezoning of the land was completed in 2011.

“We plan to create more than 400 jobs during construction,” Maake said, and explained that national retailers will feature in the development.

The company also expects transport business operators like taxi and bus operators to open their ranks at the centre once construction is completed.

Meanwhile, the construction of a new taxi rank by the Greater Letaba Municipality, situated about 200 m away from where the new complex will be built, continues despite a challenge by another family in the area which had complained that it is been built next to their site.

The Spokesperson for the Greater Letaba Municipality, Lovers Maenetje said the construction of the taxi rank is going ahead as it brings services closer to the people.
