Drug smuggler arrested after vehicle search near Groblersbrug

A 33-year-old man was arrested after members from the Groblersbrug Port of Entry followed up information on Monday (23 May), about a suspected vehicle that might be transporting drugs.

LIMPOPO – A look-out for the Nissan P200 bakkie was issued and it was intercepted and searched by members from Bulgerivier Police Station said Provincial Police Spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto.

“After a thorough search R139 900 and $10 000 (US Dollars) cash found hidden in the door panels and was confiscated.”

Otto further said that the officers also found hidden panels behind the back seats of the bakkie as well as on the back of the cab… “a thorough search revealed a total of 93 × 1kg bags of heroin to an estimated value of R93 million.”

“The driver, a man from Tanzania, will appear in the Lephalale Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday) on the charges of possession, smuggling and dealing in drugs concluded Otto.
