Residents will no longer have to travel long distances to have their properties registered, because Polokwane will get its own Deeds Office within 11 months. The Polokwane Deeds Office will render the following services:

POLOKWANE – Kwena Sekoaila, Regional Legal Manager at Legal Aid South Africa for the Mpumalanga and Limpopo regional offices, confirmed that the Deeds Office will be operational from 1 April 2017.

“Now residents have to appoint four attorneys to get their properties registered.

“Two in Polokwane to draft the documentation that must be approved by the Deeds Office in Pretoria, and another two attorneys to represent them in the Deeds Office to get the documents signed.

“With the Polokwane Deeds Office opening, residents will save on travelling costs to Pretoria and they will not need to make use of double attorney services.

“Attorneys will also benefit from the new Deeds Office because they will no longer have to share business as everything will be done in Polokwane,” Sekoaila explained.

He added that the Polokwane Deeds Office will render the following services:

• Registration of property.

• Registration postnuptial contracts.

• Registration of servitude.

• Registration of sub division of agricultural land.

• Registration of township establishment.

“The Deeds Office is not only for the registration, but also cancellation of these services.

“Attached to the Deeds Office will be the office of the Conveyancer General,” Sekoaila said.

Linda Page, Media Liaison from the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform can confirm that the deeds office will be opened in Polokwane.

“It is envisaged that this office should open its doors to the general public on 1 of April 2017.”
