New roads for Limpopo’s rural areas

The dusty and muddy streets of Mbaleni and Magidi villages, together with Block F in Thohoyandou are boasting a whole new blazer after a recent street construction programme

LIMPOPO – At the opening of the R171 million upgrade project in Thohoyandou at Makwarela town hall on Thursday, the Thulamela mayor, Grace Mahosi, said the completed project should be well cared for.

Mahosi appealed to residents to not damage the work done as the municipality has come a long way in ensuring services.

“Don’t burn tyres on these roads. You must take ownership and protect it from vandalism so that we can move forward and construct roads to other villages as well,” said Mahosi.

She encouraged residents to engage with their tribal authority and ward councillors whenever there are any challenges.

According to Mahosi, the completion of the project has come as a huge relief and benefits the motorists, pedestrians and road users.

The upgraded roads included Unit E (Magidi) and Makwarela Ext 3, Mbaleni Makwarela Ext 4 and the Tshibevha link road (Thohoyandou).
