Traffic light to help with high traffic volumes

Due to high traffic volumes that affect the smooth access to premises in Vermikuliet Street, the Polokwane Municipality is erecting a traffic light on the corner of Vermikuliet and Woodbush Streets in Ladanna.

POLOKWANE – Matshidiso Mothapo, a Municipal Spokesperson, said this project is an initiative by both the municipality and residents.

“It is not only Vermikuliet Street that has been identified. The intersection at Munnik and Meteor Streets have also been prioritised,” Mothapo said.

Asked what the municipality’s plans are to help with traffic congestion at the intersection of Vermikuliet and Mika Streets especially between 16:30 and 18:00 during week days, Mothapo said: “The traffic lights project is being implemented in phases and according to a priority list and available resources. For this financial year ending end of June 2016 only two intersections, Vermikuliet and Woodbush Streets and Munnik and Meteor Streets have been prioritised.”
