Bendor Extension 100, the flagship housing development project of the Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (Coghsta) has received new impetus with the completion of the electricity network to the first phase comprising of 40 units.
Aqeel Rhemtula, transferring attorney and conveyance from Espach Magwai Attorneys, spoke to Polokwane Observer on behalf of Salim Ayob, Managing Director of Mabone Builders, the developer and public private partner of Coghsta and said that Bendor Extension 100 is a phased development. “People were concerned because it appeared as if the project was abandoned. “On the contrary, the construction of the first phase of 40 units were completed even before the time that was allowed in terms of the service level agreement that we have with Coghsta. We had to wait for the electrical installation before occupation certificates could be issued and the process of transfer could proceed. The partially completed units that could be seen, were already part of the second phase and the total contract period is four years,” Rhemtula said and added that the project is currently ahead of schedule.
Rhemtula explained that the project is market driven and that phases will be implemented as the demand informs. “There are already 200 units sold and the bonds have been approved. Coghsta and the Polokwane Municipality have also identified a further
5 000 qualifying applicants and we are working through the list,” Rhemtula informed.
Rhemtula invited interested buyers to contact Living Large Properties who is the marketing agent for the project and confirmed that the first residents will be moving in towards the second half of the year.
