Officer arrested for aiding and abetting

A 56-year-old Modimolle warrant officer, who was accused of aiding and abetting the escape of 13 awaiting trail prisoners, was arrested by detectives last Friday.

LIMPOPO – All 13 were arrested for armed robbery.

Alias Mothloki, is facing 13 charges of aiding and abetting and two charges of corruption following an intensive internal investigation.

Provincial Police Spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto, reported: “It is alleged Mothloki was paid an undisclosed amount of money in exchange to help the 13 prisoners escape. Mothloki was granted bail of R1 500 and the case was postponed to 3 June”.

Nine of the 13 escapees have been re-arrested and a thorough search for the other four is on-going.  The police are still looking for Given Mogashone, Dennis Jove, Forgive Mgube and Collin Muleya.
