Police still searching for 2 suspects after farm attack

A 72-year-old farm owner from the Musina area, along with a robbery suspect, was admitted to hospital after a home invasion in the early hours of Monday morning.

LIMPOPO –  According to provincial police spokesperson, Col Malesela Ledwaba, four armed suspects entered the farmer’s home along Venetia road at about 06:00, where they held him at gunpoint, demanding firearms.

“The farmer handed over the safe keys, whereby the suspects took two riffles. After the suspects allegedly fired shots in the farmers direction when he told them there were no more firearms, the farmer retaliated by shooting at the suspects, killing one of them.

“The farmer sustained injuries on the left arm and forehead.”

During the incident the farmer’s son was tied him up said Ledwaba.

After receiving information about the incident, the Musina police launched a manhunt and managed to arrest one of the suspects who they discovered had been shot in the thigh.

Cases of  attempted murder and robbery have been opened for further investigation.

A search continues for the remaining two suspects.

“We appeal to whoever might have information about the suspects to contact the nearest police station.”
