Give the gift of mobility together with Wheelchair Wednesday

POLOKWANE – The Wheelchair Wednesday campaign donates wheelchairs to physically disabled people so they can become more mobile and move around independently, something which is often taken for granted.

By becoming part of the Wheelchair Wednesday campaign you can help make the dream of someone with a physical disability a reality by giving them the gift of mobility.

To be a part of this exiting and life changing campaign, you can sponsor a wheelchair for a tax deductible sponsorship fee of R6 000. Sponsors select their own beneficiary, personally hand-over the wheelchair, receive a certificate of participation, and a Section 18A tax receipt along with media and social media coverage of your participation in the awareness campaign.

Wheelchair Wednesday campaign organiser, Johnny Graham urged the community and businesses to come on board with the campaign. “Since 2013 the Wheelchair Wednesday campaign has donated 57 custom fitted wheelchairs to needy people in Limpopo.

These 57 wheelchairs were handed over by 24 local and national companies. In 2016 our goal is to hand over another 30 wheelchairs,” Graham said.

“The campaign has become an annual event and has become part of several companies’ social responsibility campaigns,” he continued.

Most company representatives opt to use a wheelchair for the whole day and challenge their co-workers to spend time in the wheelchair and complete a list of tasks given by the campaign organiser to help raise awareness. This is the ideal opportunity for a team building exercise and lots of fun in the office, all for a good cause.
