Man in possession of explosives arrested at Beit Bridge

The police task team at the Beit Bridge border post have succeeded in stopping explosives to the value of R350 000 from being brought into and sold in South Africa.

POLOKWANE – On Wednesday evening the task team arrested a 24-year-old Zimbabwe national found to be in possession of  the illegal explosives.

According to Limpopo Hawks spokesperson Lt. Matimba Maluleke, the suspect was traveling in a bus from Zimbabwe to South Africa when he was stopped.

“The suspect’s bags were searched and police found 100 connector caps and fuses and 100 blasting cartridges. It is suspected that the explosives were meant to be sold in Gauteng.” Malueke said.

He added that the suspect would appear in the Musina magistrate court soon.
