POLOKWANE – The officer was arrested by the Hawks on Wednesday.
It is alleged that the suspect was in a motor vehicle accident with another vehicle on Tuesday, 5 April in Seshego. At the time of the accident, the official was wearing his uniform and driving a marked Polokwane Municipality traffic vehicle.
According to information, immediately after the accident, the officer demanded money from the other party and threatened to take her driver’s license and lock her up. The officer demanded R1 000 from the person, who gave it to the official.
The following day, the municipal official went to the other party’s work place and demanded more money, and this is when the person reported the matter to the Hawks.
An appointment was made for the payment and during this, the official was arrested.
