Action leads to arrest of 3 rapists

Three suspects were arrested on Monday after raping and robbing a 20-year-old girl in Sekiming Village outside of Mokopane in the early hours of 27 March.

LIMPOPO – According to Const Sello Leso, Spokesperson for the Mahwelereng police: “The victim was overpowered by the three suspects who then raped her, stole her shoes, a cellphone and R150 cash. The victim immediately phoned the police and they rushed to the scene. Their arrest followed shortly after in Gamachikiri Village.”

Leso further said: “It is alleged that these three suspects are also connected to another case where they were giving people lifts with their car and then robbing and raping them. They were also allegedly impersonating the police as to gain the trust of their victims.” Stanley Mohlake (25), Enoch Chaba (30), Brian Phiri (24) appeared in the Mokerong Magistrates Court on Tuesday and the case was postponed to 25 April for further investigation. The suspects remain in custody.
