UPDATE: learner hit by car succumbs to injuries
The learner who was hit by a car in Westenburg yesterday afternoon died in hospital
POLOKWANE – Shannon Sacco (16), a gr. 11 Westenburg Secondary School learner, was trying to cross the road when she was hit by the vehicle.
Capt Mohlaka Mashiane, a Westenburg police spokesperson, said the learner was rushed to the nearest hospital with critical injuries.
“After knocking the child, the suspect fled the scene. A resident followed the driver and alerted the police of his whereabouts. The police followed up on the information and found the vehicle and the suspect was arrested.
“He will appear before the Polokwane magistrate’s court soon,” Mashiane said.
