The Love Can Foundation assists in the rebuilding of the Adams family house

Christina Adams' house is finally being rebuilt after it burned down in John Smith Street, Westenburg on 8 January.

POLOKWANE – The rebuilding of Adams’ house was managed by the Westenburg Disaster Management team, and residents donated building materials towards the rebuilding of the house, but the project never got off the ground.

A few weeks ago Ps Fadiel Baker from Light of the Nations Ministry approached the family and asked if their charity organisation, The Love Can Foundation, could assist in the rebuilding of the house.

Baker said The Love Can Foundation is aimed at social upliftment in communities and the rebuilding thereof.

“We saw the burned down house when we were driving around Westenburg and we wanted to help. The aim of this project is to restore hope in this family after they lost everything. It is important that people know, when unfortunate things happen, there are people who care.

“We are transforming lives, showing people that Jesus cares about them.

“There are social workers from the church who are evaluating the needs of Christina Adams and her grandchildren as well as their medical needs,” Baker said.

Over the weekend the team started clearing the rubble outside the house and breaking down the walls.

Earlier this week they sorted the bricks to see which can be reused. During the course of the weekend, the rubble of the broken down walls will be cleared for the foundation to be inspected before construction work starts.

“Our aim is to finish the house before Easter. Once the house is finished, the family will need a lot of things to start a new life. We therefore appeal that residents partner with us by donating clothes, furniture, and food to help the family,” Baker said.

Anyone who would like to help can contact Jerry Mamabolo from Light of the Nations Ministry at 060 678 0254.

Adams thanked Baker and The Love Can Foundation for helping them.

“I was starting to lose hope, because in two months nothing was done to rebuild my house. But now I see something is happening and I am very happy.

“Thank you very much and thank you to everyone for their donations to help me get back on my feet. May God bless you all,” Adams said.
