LIMPOPO – The voter registration weekend ended in tragedy for a family in Leboeng village in the Greater Tubatse area following the rape and murder of an 80-year-old woman.
Provincial police spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto, says the body of the woman was discovered in her home early on Sunday morning when her family members came to collect to register for the local government elections.
“The police were called and they followed tracks from the house of the deceased, which led them to a house where two men aged 26 and 33 were arrested,” says Otto.
Some stolen household items were found in their possession, she adds.
The two men will appear in the Leboeng Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (Tuesday).
