Planned maintenance may affect water supply

Residents are notified of an interruption to the city's water supply from the Ebenezer plant on Tuesday, 8 March

POLOKWANE – The Polokwane Municipality says this is due to maintenance work that must be conducted by the Greater Tzaneen Municipality on their electrical lines that feed Lepelle Northern Water’s Ebenezer plant.

Municipal spokesperson, Tidimalo Chuene, says the maintenance is necessary to address issues that affect power outages during rainy periods.

“As a result, the Ebenezer plant is expected to be out of operation for about eight hours from 07:00 to 15:00. This shut down has the potential to disrupt the supply of water to certain areas along the Ebenezer pipeline, which include the Mankweng area and high catchment areas in the city,” says Chuene.

“Residents are advised to use water sparingly to ensure reservoir levels do not drop over the weekend and during the down time.”

The municipality and Lepelle Northern Water will do all that is possible to ensure negative effects on the supply of water, she says.

“However, the public is requested to use water very sparingly. Washing of cars using hoses, watering of lawns and gardens should strictly be avoided as this may lead to water shortage.”

Residents who may experience challenges with water supply can contact the municipality at (015) 290 2376/2001/2002 for assistance.
