4 Aganang water projects handed over

As Limpopo has been declared one of the drought disaster provinces, the Capricorn District Municipality (CDM) will ensure areas without water are assisted to ensure the water scarcity does not affect the people

POLOKWANE – These were the words of assurance from CDM mayor, Gilbert Kganyago, during the water project sod turning in Moletjie last Wednesday.

Kganyago said a total of R41 million would be spent so residents of Kolopo, Ga-Phago, Ga-Ramashoane and Burgwal would have access to clean water in the coming six months.

“With the serious water shortage in these villages, the municipality saw it as crucial to come together in addressing the water shortage. These projects were proposed as a cost effective alternative to buying water for their everyday use,” said Kganyago.

He said the municipality would ensure everybody had access to water.

“The projects will reduce the water shortage in the villages of Aganang. Elevated steel tanks will be installed and boreholes will be drilled to relieve the water shortage. We came up with a strategy of implementing communal taps in every yard to ensure residents no longer have to travel long distances to fetch water,” Kganyago explained.

“We know these projects really mean a lot to the people of Aganang. As villages, you should take care of the projects and ensure you work together with the contractors. Be vigilant to those who steal the materials and report such criminal deeds.”

Kganyago further said the previous incomplete water projects were almost completed and they will be operational soon.
