Police hunt for suspects after heist at Tzaneen primary

There was a robbery in the parking lot of Tzaneen Primary School this morning

LIMPOPO – According to Letaba Herald, six suspects robbed a Letaba Security cash-in-transit vehicle of an undisclosed amount of money and weapons.

Tzaneen police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe, said three of the suspects allegedly wore police uniforms.

They fired shots into the air, but no one was harmed.

An eyewitness said the suspects allegedly drove a white double cab bakkie with tinted windows and no registration plate.

“A manhunt for the suspects of the second cash-in transit at Tzaneen Primary is still on by the special joint operation composed of various Police Units in the Tzaneen Cluster of the Limpopo Province” said Ngoepe.

This follows another robbery in Tzaneen earlier today, where a group of about 30 armed suspects attacked and robbed another cash-in-transit vehicle of an undisclosed amount of cash.

According to Ngoepe, the incident happened at about 04:00 along Tarentaal and Nwamitwa roads near Bushvalley.

The suspects, who were traveling in more than six vehicles, led by a black BMW-X5 with a blue light on the roof, attacked two cash-in-transit vehicles.

They shot at the vehicles with rifles until one of the vehicles overturned. Two security guards were seriously injured in the attack.

The other cash-in-transit vehicle left the road after the suspects shot at its wheels. Boxes of money were removed from the vehicle by the suspects.

The seriously injured security guards were admitted to hospital. The two guards who were in the second vehicle escaped unharmed.

The identities of the suspects are still unknown and no arrests have been made.
