WATCH: Mayor calls on residents to support Bulls, Lions

Mayor Thembi Nkadimeng says she expects the Peter Mokaba Sports Complex to be filled to capacity for the clash between the Vodacom Blue Bulls and Emirates Lions

POLOKWANE – Mayor Thembi Nkadimeng says she expects the Peter Mokaba Sports Complex to be filled to capacity for the Vodacom Blue Bulls and Emirates Lions Super Rugby warm-up match on 13 February.

She says this will be a titanic clash as both teams will use the match to prepare for the Super Rugby season, and she squarely stands behind the Bulls.

“Our partnership with the Blue Bulls Rugby Union is very strong and I believe we will keep it alive for many years to come. The Bulls play a beautiful game and I would advise citizens and rugby fanatics to join me at the stadium to show our support,” says Nkadimeng.

Asked who her favourite Bulls player is, she says she cannot single anyone out as she focuses more on team play than any individual achievements.

She says the game will be used to raise funds for charity organisations, bursaries, and people living with cancer.

“We usually allocate 80% of the money raised to bursaries so we can assist learners to further their studies. We invest more in education because we believe the knowledge gained will grow our economy.”

There will be a gala dinner the evening before the match where guests can have the chance to rub shoulders with players and management from the teams.

Tickets are available form Computicket or can be bought at the stadium.

Tickets will cost R100 for the grand stand, R80 for the east stand, R60 for the north and east Stand and R30 for scholars. Schools who do block bookings get to retain R10 of the R30. Parking tickets will also be available at R20 each.

Kick-off is at 17:00.
