Police in Seshego arrested four suspects who allegedly robbed cigarettes to the value of R200 000 from a delivery vehicle in Moletjie on Tuesday.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Ronel Otto said two persons employed by a cigarette company were offloading cigarettes at a spaza shop in Moletjie when they were overpowered by four armed men.
“They were allegedly tied up and forced into a nearby bush. The four suspects allegedly fled with the vehicle of the cigarette company, stopped several kilometres from the scene and loaded the cigarettes into their own vehicle,” Otto said.
Police were alerted and information led to Police spotting the suspicious vehicle soon after the incident. “Police followed the vehicle and managed to arrest four suspects. The stolen cigarettes were also recovered. The suspects are expected to appear before the Seshego Magistrate’s Court today (Thursday) on a charge of armed robbery,” Otto said.
