14 including toddler killed in Limpopo crash

A fatal accident on Wednesday morning on the R101 about 15 km's outside of Mokopane claimed the lives of 14 yet-to-be identified persons of which one is a toddler.

MOKOPANE –  A fatal accident on Wednesday morning on the R101 about 15 km’s outside of Mokopane claimed the lives of 14 yet-to-be identified persons of which one is a toddler.
It is alleged that the driver of the double-cab bakkie carrying 15 passengers lost control of the vehicle and veered into the lane of the oncoming traffic and collided with the truck.
According to one of the emergency personal on the scene (who would like to stay anonymous): “it is alleged that the driver of the bakkie may have fallen asleep when the vehicle veered off the road, the driver then pulled the vehicle back onto the road and ended up in front of truck.”
Col Ronel Otto, police spokesperson of Limpopo, told Bosveld on Wednesday morning: “14 people died on the scene and two people who sustained critical injuries were rushed to the hospital. The driver of the truck was only treated for light injuries and shock. The identities of the deceased have of yet not been identified.”
She further said that a case of culpable homicide has been opened and the cause of the accident is under investigation.
