Report suspicious vehicles in your area say police, CPF

Several community policing forum (CPF) members have reported a vehicle driving up and down the streets of Welgelegen and Bendor taking photos of houses in the area.

POLOKWANE – Several community policing forum (CPF) members have reported a vehicle driving up and down the streets of Welgelegen and Bendor taking photos of houses in the area.

On Facebook and on several CPF Whatsapp groups people reported that the vehicle was seen driving around the two areas and the incumbents acting suspiciously.

Four men in an silver Toyota Run X, were reportedly seen taking photos with their cell phones of various security gates and other security features at homes in the two areas.

One resident also reported the men banging and shaking at his front gate, perhaps to see if it was open.

Resident Nicoleen Grobler, “I have reported the vehicle to the police but it appeared as if nothing has been done as yet. “We are not sure what the people want but it is very strange that people would drive around to take photos of houses and security gates.”

Polokwane police spokesperson, Capt Ntobeng Phala, said he is not aware of the vehicle mentioned and that during the next meeting of the different police stations the issue will be raised.

“We urge people to be on the lookout for this, and other suspicious vehicles. Where possible, take a photo or video of the suspicious vehicle and give it to the police with the complaint,” he recommended.

According to a source the suspicious vehicle was last seen patrolling the Fauna/Flora Park areas.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the nearest police station.
