Limpopo police operation leads to wanted hijackers

Three suspects found to be in possession of the stolen vehicle and unlicensed firearm were arrested in the Maake area near Tzaneen.

LIMPOPO – Three suspects found to be in possession of the stolen vehicle and unlicensed firearm were arrested in the Maake area near Tzaneen.

According to provincial police spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto, the two men an woman were wanted in connection with a vehicle jijacking in November last year.

“The owner of an Isuzu bakkie was robbed of his vehicle at gunpoint at the T- junction of the Tzaneen/ Lydenburg road at night. He was not injured during the incident.”

Following intensive intelligence driven operations, the suspects were arrested at Mogapeng village, Maake on Wednesday night said Otto.

“The vehicle as well as an unlicensed fire arm were recovered in their possession.”

Investigations to link them to similar crimes in the area are ongoing.

They are due to appear in the Ritavi Magistrates’ Court soon concluded Otto.
