Taxi overturn, four die

A taxi overturned near the Eiland Spa and four people were killed and six others sustained minor to critical injuries when a taxi rolled multiple times in Eiland Road a few kilometres from Letsitele, Wednesday morning.
The four people killed are believed to be students on their way to the University of Venda to register for this academic year. They came from Mpumalanga.
The ER24 website reports that ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on the scene and found some patients lying on the road as well as on the side of the road close to the taxi. The deceased reportedly sustained severe and multiple injuries. They were declared dead on scene.
A patient found on the side of the road on an embankment was found to have sustained critical injuries. He, as well as one patient who was in a serious condition and four people who sustained minor injuries were treated and transported to the Letaba Hospital for further medical care. It is understood that most of the patients were ejected from the taxi.
Moatshe Ngoepe, Police Spokesperson for Tzaneen said four cases of culpable homicide are being investigated. He said Police are still struggling to identify the deceased, but some family members were on their way to assist in the task.
